Project #1: AI, oh!

AI, oh! is an innovative project designed to help rural business owners harness the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance their business operations. The concept revolves around a deck of cards featuring prompts that guide users on how to effectively integrate AI into their business strategies.

My role in this project: first, evaluate whether this concept could provide tangible value to its target audience, and second, to assess if we were on the right path before moving forward with large-scale production.

Before printing thousands of cards, the AI, oh! team opted for a more strategic approach by launching a website that replicated the card game experience. This allowed us to gauge interest and demand for the product, ensuring we wouldn’t end up with stockpiles of unused cards.

To further test the concept, we hosted an event called “Bet You Will Say Oh!” as a litmus test. Participants—primarily students—were divided into groups and tasked with creating business ideas using the AI, oh! cards as prompts. Half of the groups had access to AI and the cards, while the other half did not. The students then voted on which team came up with the best ideas.

The objective was clear: demonstrate how AI could be used as a practical tool for brainstorming and innovation. From the overwhelmingly positive feedback, we successfully proved the effectiveness of AI, oh! in helping users tap into AI’s potential. This validation was crucial for moving forward with future events and product expansion.

Project #2: Ollie Otter

Ollie is an otter whose sole mission is to educate the youth on booster seat and seat belt safety.

For years Ollie has gone to schools around Tennessee and given presentations on how to stay safe in the car, but then, Covid-19 happened and that stopped Ollie in his tracks.

My part in all this?

How do we make Ollie more relevant in schools, and how do we bring him into this more digital world?

  • The saying "it takes a village" is something I resonate with deeply. In order to properly disseminate information and have it stick with people we need to involve the community. Ollie presentations have historically only been targeted at children, but it is imperative that others get the same education.

    • Schools/Teachers

    • Childcare institutions

    • Libraries

    • Parents and Students

Should all be considered as part of the new target market.

    • Increase awareness of Ollie Otters mission

    • Increase knowledge of booster seat safety and road safety

  • The goal is to enhance Ollie Otter's reach across Tennessee by focusing on engaging both local schools and more distant communities through a mix of digital and in-person experiences. For schools further away, we will prioritize digital interactions through "Digital Ollie" video presentations, complete lesson plans, and community events. A one-size-fits-all video featuring the Ollie mascot, similar to interactive shows like Dora, could simplify our message and be easily circulated across multiple platforms. Additionally, an animated Ollie video with a catchy jingle can be incorporated into morning announcements, or, if video isn’t possible, a brief intercom message accompanied by the jingle will keep Ollie top of mind.

Teachers will further engage students with handouts that outline where they can meet Ollie in person. Meanwhile, in farther-reaching areas, we will focus on drawing communities to Ollie through events at daycares, libraries, and partner schools. As an incentive, schools with the highest student turnout at community events will win an Ollie Otter pizza party. This approach ensures that Ollie becomes a consistent presence in schools, reinforced daily or weekly through announcements and competitions. By increasing exposure through take-home materials, school broadcasts, video content, and engaging community events, Ollie Otter will become a widely recognized and talked-about figure, significantly increasing awareness and knowledge across the state.
